Committment to key priority groups

Australian Business Limited Apprenticeships Centre is dedicated to meeting the needs of key priority groups by increasing the awareness and uptake of Australian apprenticeships and traineeships.

The key priority groups are:

Indigenous Australians
We have links with Indigenous employment agencies, various Aboriginal Corporations and councils and participate in indigenous jobs fairs.

We have also developed an Indigenous Employment Strategy (IES).  The purpose of the strategy is to increase the employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians within our organisation.

People with a disability
We work closely with disability agencies and provide information on the incentives available through Disabled Australian Apprentice Wage Support (DAAWS).

Mature aged workers
We work with Job Services Australia (JSA) and other specialist agencies.

Australian School-based Apprenticeships
Through school visits and skillsroad.com.au, we promote the initiative that gets students involved in an apprenticeship or traineeship while still in high school .  We are also actively involved with careers advisors, including attendance at the Careers Advisors Australia (CAA) NSW Annual Conference providing them with information needed to support their students.

Skills Needs Occupations
We advise which occupations are on the National Skills Shortage List and promote the range of incentives available to employersas well as apprentices and trainees
