How much will It cost me?
Your training provider will advise you of your enrolment fee which may be paid by either yourself or your employer. Although a lot of employers assist with this fee they aren’t obligated to do so unless this is specified in the industrial award or agreement you are employed under.
Tuition costs are covered by the State Government if you are an apprentice or new entrant trainee. Some Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) may charge employers an additional fee for delivery of training to supplement the funding provided by the State Government. Existing worker trainees don’t pay an enrolment fee as the cost of training is negotiated between the employer and the RTO. Contact ABL Apprenticeships Centre to find out what applies to you.
The TAFE NSW site has information on concession fees for certain benefit/allowance recipients and dependents.
During your apprenticeship / traineeship you may also have to cover the cost of:
- uniforms and equipment
- text books and other study materials
- parking or transport costs
- travel and accommodation to attend training.
You and your employer may be eligible for a variety of financial incentives from the State and Australian Governments to help meet the costs of employing and training you. Talk to ABL Apprenticeships Centre on 1300 652 236 to find out what incentives you and your employer may be eligible for.
